N70CF was owned by Corkey Fornoff and flown as #1 ship of the ‘Acrojets’ team (briefly called ‘Aerojets’ in the beginning). It was built in 1976 by several FAA-certified mechanics. The total time to build it was in excess of 3500 man-hours, using many parts from the original BD-5J, N5BD, plus the FAA conformity airframe bought from Bede. N70CF incorporated many design changes compared to BD-5J, and it was therefore licensed as ‘Acrostar Special’. The name ‘Acrostar’ was also used after the ‘Acrojets’ disbanded. Currently on display in a Seattle aviation museum as ‘James Bond 007’ without registration. N70CF was sold to Scott Stegmann in 2015 and is now located in New York. The turbojet engine was subsequently lost during the long-term display of the aircraft. It is planned to restore N70CF to airworthy with the PBS TJ150 turbojet engine.
